Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, today’s ASME promotes the art, science & practice of mechanical & multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe.

Who We Are

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers UH chapter is a professional organization that is operated by students currently attending the University of Houston. Our goal is to lead engineering students to success in all aspects of the engineering disciplines.

Our Mission

We strive to improve the quality of our members’ academic and professional career by providing opportunities to interact with professionals from leading companies, arranging events that foster community among students, organizing outreach programs that increase public awareness about the engineering profession, and encouraging good works through community service.

What We Do

  • Provide platforms to all engineering students to develop leadership, communication, and technical skills

  • Bring new opportunities to our members by providing exposure to local and international companies

  • Connect the gap between students and employer through information sessions, resume critiques, and mock interviews

  • Inspire engineering students through collaboration and teamwork to elevate academic success

  • Implement new activities and projects to challenge students and to facilitate an innovative mindset

  • Encourage others by volunteering with local groups
